This site counts how many people visit and which pages they read. Nothing more. No profile is built about you, you are not followed to other websites, and nothing goes to advertisers.
What we record
For every page viewed we note its address, the time, whether the screen is small or large, and which website the visitor arrived from. Nothing more. Your IP address is not read, not used and not stored, and we do not determine which town or country you are in.
What we do not do
We store no IP addresses, use no cookies, carry no advertising, share nothing with third parties, and never link a visit to your name or e-mail address. Nothing is recorded that could identify you. Only the archive’s administrator sees the figures.
What is kept on your device
While your tab is open the site remembers a random number, so that the pages of one visit belong together. The moment you close the tab it is gone. It contains no name and cannot be traced back to you. Beyond that, only the fact that you have seen this notice is remembered, so it does not reappear on every visit.
How long we keep it
Individual visit records are kept for at most two months. After that they are summarised into weekly totals — how many visitors, which pages, which towns — and the individual records are deleted. Those weekly figures we keep longer, to see how the archive develops.
Why we ask nothing
For a short while we recorded town and country and counted unique visitors, which requires consent. That has been reversed: those details are no longer collected. With them the question falls away — there is nothing to allow or refuse, because nothing about you is recorded.
Other information
If you subscribe to the newsletter, send a message through the contact form, or become a Friend of the archive, we keep what you enter yourself, such as your name and e-mail address, so that we can reply or send the newsletter. You can unsubscribe with the link at the foot of every newsletter. Administrators sign in with their Google account; no account is created for ordinary visitors.

You may always ask what information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Write to info@thijssterk.nl. If you disagree with how we handle your data, you may complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
