Welcome to the Hargen room. Here you stand in the middle of the characteristic Noord-Hollandse landscape around Schoorl and the Hondsbossche Zeewering. Thijs Sterk shows you this polder land in all its facets. Observe how the glancing light falls across the highest dune top and how the ethereal sky merges with the reflecting water. From the rust-brown brickwork of the locks to an approaching rain shower above the polder; Sterk constantly seeks the balance between robust contours and fleeting light. Even a simple wooden fence becomes in his work a poetic play of rhythm and shadow. This room invites you to pause and reflect on the serene vastness of this unique waterland.
